Our commitment

Gatekeepers Care Solutions Ltd is committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.

As a provider of domiciliary care and supported living services, we recognise our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact while maintaining safe, reliable and high-quality care.

This commitment covers emissions from our own operations, the energy we purchase and the wider activities associated with delivering our services, including business travel, staff commuting and purchased goods and services.

Our approach to reducing emissions

We will work towards our target through the following actions:

  • Travel and care planning: Improve journey planning and staff allocation to reduce unnecessary mileage, while maintaining continuity of care and responding to people’s needs.
  • Energy use: Review energy consumption in premises under our control and identify opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Digital working: Reduce unnecessary printing and paper use through appropriate digital systems, while maintaining accessibility and secure information handling.
  • Waste reduction: Encourage responsible purchasing, reuse and recycling, while meeting infection prevention and safe waste-disposal requirements.
  • Responsible procurement: Consider environmental performance when selecting suppliers, products and services.
  • Staff awareness: Encourage colleagues to adopt practical measures that reduce energy use, waste and avoidable travel.

Measurement and progress

We will develop an emissions baseline using available business records and relevant reporting guidance. This will help us identify our main sources of emissions, prioritise improvements and set measurable interim reduction targets.

As our measurement develops, we will report progress transparently and distinguish measured reductions from planned actions.

Accountability and review

The directors of Gatekeepers Care Solutions Ltd will oversee this commitment. We will review this declaration and our progress at least annually, updating our approach as our understanding of our emissions improves.

Environmental measures will be implemented in ways that protect the safety, dignity and wellbeing of the people we support.
